More flight flexibility, less pocket pain – introducing MFlex

MFlex - plan B

As Robert Burns once said, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.

The boss has asked you to attend an important overseas meeting and defer your long weekend away. A sudden expense has drained your holiday budget. It could be one of hundreds of unexpected things that seem sent to try you. We know it’s frustrating when these things happen and when worst comes to worst sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and change your flight date or even your destination.

You wouldn’t be alone in your frustration – our customer services team take calls about these sorts of problems every day. That’s why we’ve launched our new MFlex product, designed based on your feedback, to offer you greater flexibility and peace of mind.

For just £2.50 per passenger each way, MFlex offers you the flexibility to make a change to the travel dates or route on your booking without incurring the standard admin fee of £27.50/€34 per passenger each way. If you choose MFlex, your admin charges are waived so all you’ll have to pay is the difference between the price of your current flight and new flight should your new dates of travel be more expensive.

MFlex is valid for flight only, for date or route changes made 15 or more days prior to the departure date.  You can make one date or route change per person in each direction. The normal admin charges of £27.50/€34 per passenger each way will apply to any date or route changes made 14 days or less prior to departure and for additional changes made after you have used your MFlex allowance.

So, if you’d like to consider the MFlex option and potentially save yourself a good chunk of money in the event of a change,  remember, you have to buy it at the time of booking. The nice thing though is if you choose MFlex but don’t use it for your booking, we’ll send you a voucher for the total amount, which can be used as payment towards a future flight booking with us. You’ll receive the voucher upon completion of your travel and it will be valid for new bookings confirmed within 1 month from the creation date (valid for travel until March 2013). It’s important to note that name change fees are not covered by MFlex and will incur the standard £100/€125 per name change.

We hope you’ll enjoy the benefits of our new MFlex product and we’d love to know if you think it’s worth a try. Tell us in the comments below!

  • I have paid M-flex for outward and inbound travel, does this mean I can change my inbound flight up to 15 days before return date, as we are going for 63 days? or do I have to change 15 days before I leave this country?

    • Hi William, I have referred your question to our social media team in the customer services department, so you’ll receive a reply by email. Thanks for your post.

      • Hi, I have the same question as William on MFlex. Does the 15 days apply to outward and return flights separately or do all flights(outward AND return) have to be changed 15 days or more before the outward flight?

        • Hi John, the 15 days applies to the flight you’re wishing to change. This could be either you outward or inbound flight, I hope this helps? We’re also on Twitter as @monarch and at http://www.facebook.com/monarch for quicker replies to customer service questions.

  • booked mflex and need to change flight, before logging in checked price of new flight, shown as 108.99 but once logged in to change details flight had increse to 173.99 ! why? original paid 147.99 can understand no refund but why are prices different when booking new flight and changing a flight?

    • Hi Allan, I have passed your details on to our social media team in customer services, so you’ll receive a reply by email. Thanks for your post.

  • Sounds like a good deal. What happens if the flight changed is cheaper than the original one booked, will there be a refund in the difference?

    • Hi there, there wouldn’t be a refund I’m afraid but this is very unlikely to happen in any case. Thanks for your question.
