(Luton, UK –29, December 2015) – Monarch, a leading UK independent airline group, saw overall mobile bookings rise over the festive season. Mobile bookings made on Christmas Day were up 40% year-on-year and 50% year-on-year for Boxing Day bookings.

With smartphones popular presents this year, Monarch saw mobile traffic jump on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Overall on Christmas Day and Boxing Day traffic was up 68% from last year’s figures.

Monarch has also seen positive demand for its new summer routes to Lisbon and Madrid as well as the newly announced route of Manchester to Tel Aviv. Fly from Manchester, London Gatwick and Birmingham to Lisbon and Birmingham to Madrid with all routes now available to book at www.monarch.co.uk

After all the miserable weather over the festive period many customers are booking last minute getaways to the sun. With more rain likely, the winter sun destinations of Agadir, Hurghada, Eilat and the Canary Islands were the most popular bookings over Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Thanks to increased confidence by mobile users bookings are ahead of last year over Christmas Day and Boxing Day.”
