Ski season generally begins in late November or early December. But this time, the only thing that has been lacking in many resorts across the Alps is, well, the snow and many places have been struggling for the season to get kick started due to a severe lack of the white stuff. But now those keen to get on those slopes can now look forward to much better weather conditions for skiing and snowboarding across key resorts in Europe as the snow has started to fall and more is forecast over the next few weeks.

This winter you have great chances of experiencing one of the best ski seasons as there has been the best November snowfall for 20 years. With some European ski destinations having 50cm of snow; tourist offices have laid our tea parties and concerts to those who have patiently waited to hit the slopes.

Avoriaz, accessible in just under two hours from Geneva,  Avoriaz and Morzine are great resorts for both beginner and novice skiiers like. In Avoriaz you can expect to find traditional wooden chalets, with an ice rink and health spas for an alternative to slopes.

Snow Forecast

The resorts of La Plagne and Meribel are easily accessible by car taking around two hours from Grenoble and Lyon airports. If you’re a beginner or not a particularly confident skier, La Plagne is a great resort with plenty of beginner’s lifts and great ski schools. Meribel is a very popular ski resort with a lively après ski and a variety of great restaurants to choose from.
